- What Is a Quarter?Recognise and name a quarter as one of four equal parts.A quarter is one of four equal parts of a whole. It only counts as a quarter when all four parts are exactly the same size. A quarter is also called a fourth.
- Quarters of ShapesFold or partition a shape into four equal parts and name each a quarter.Folding a shape in half and then in half again makes four equal parts. Each part is a quarter. If the parts are different sizes, they are not real quarters.
- Quarters of GroupsFind a quarter of a group by sharing into four equal groups. To find a quarter of a group of objects, share them into four equal groups. A quarter of 12 is 3, and a quarter of 8 is 2. Sharing fairly is the key to finding quarters.
