What you’ll learn
- What Is a Half?Recognise and name a half as one of two equal parts.A half is one of two equal parts of a whole. Both parts must be the same size. Put two halves back together and you get one whole again.
- Halves of ShapesFold or partition a shape into two equal parts and name each a half.Folding a shape so its edges meet makes two equal parts, and each is a half. If the two parts are different sizes, they are not real halves.
- Halves of GroupsFind half of a group by sharing into two equal groups. To find half of a group of objects, share them into two equal groups. Half of 8 is 4, and half of 6 is 3. Fair sharing between two is how we find halves.
