Inside, AI is math that turns examples into numbers and adjusts itself until its guesses improve. It has no brain, no feelings, and no wants — it is a tool built, taught, and fixed by real people. Kids learn from examples too, but way faster and with imagination AI doesn't have.

Teaching a Computer: Cats vs. DogsLearn how AI is trained: labeled examples go in, the computer finds patterns, and then it makes guesses on new things it has never seen.To teach a computer cats versus dogs, people collect thousands of pictures labeled CAT or DOG — the training data. People — including kids — are in charge of AI, not the other way around.

Does AI have a brain and feelings like you?

AI is a giant pile of math that adjusts itself using examples. It cannot feel, want, or imagine things. Your brain does amazing things no computer can do!

Who makes and teaches AI?

Every AI was built by real people who collect its examples, test it, and fix its mistakes. AI does what people build it to do.

How do people teach a computer to tell cats from dogs?

Exactly! The labeled pictures are called training data. The AI studies them over and over, finds patterns like pointy ears and whiskers, and then can guess on new pictures.

The computer only ever saw pictures of black cats. Then it sees an orange cat. What might happen?

Yes! An AI only knows its examples. If the examples miss something — like orange cats — its guesses can go wrong. That's why good, complete examples matter so much.

When an AI says a picture is a cat, what is really happening inside?

The AI is saying something like 'this is 90 percent cat-ish by my math.' It's always a pattern guess, never true knowing — and guesses can be wrong.
