The tongue 'taste map' is debunked: all regions detect all basic tastes, and much of flavor is actually smell. Every sense is the brain's interpretation of raw physical signals, not a direct window on reality.

What is the most accurate way to describe the total length of your blood vessels?

The famous 100,000 km figure came from an estimate of a very large, muscular body. More careful modern estimates for an average adult are closer to 9,000 to 19,000 km, still enough to span continents.

What does the brainstem mainly monitor to control your breathing?

The brainstem's main trigger is rising carbon dioxide, the waste gas. This is why the urge to breathe becomes overwhelming as CO2 climbs, long before oxygen runs dangerously low.

Which statement about the brain is TRUE?
