Angles Are TurnsUnderstand that an angle is an amount of turn measured in degrees, and name acute, right and obtuse angles.An angle is the turn between two lines meeting at a point, measured in degrees (°). A full turn is 360°, a half turn 180° and a quarter turn 90°. Angles under 90° are acute, exactly 90° are right angles, and between 90° and 180° are obtuse.
  2. Using a ProtractorUse a protractor to measure angles from 0° to 180°, choosing the correct scale.A protractor is a semicircle that measures angles from 0° to 180°. Put its centre on the vertex, line the 0° along one arm, and read where the other arm crosses. Its two scales share the same marks, so always start from the 0 on your arm.
  3. Drawing Your Own AnglesDraw angles of a given size accurately with a protractor and ruler, and order angles by size.To draw an angle, draw one arm, place the protractor's centre on the vertex, mark the target degree, and join the vertex to the dot. Angles can be ordered by how open they are, from a sharp 20° up to a nearly straight 160°.
