🛫 How Air Traffic Control Works
Controllers do not fly the airplane. They hold the shared picture that lets many crews use the same sky.

What does ADS-B Out primarily broadcast?
The FAA glossary defines ADS-B Out as the onboard transmitter that periodically broadcasts GNSS-derived position along with other required information, such as identity, altitude, and velocity.

What does a handoff transfer between controllers?
A handoff transfers radar identification and radio communications. Transfer of control is the separate act that moves separation responsibility. The pilot still flies the airplane.
What should happen when an existing clearance no longer fits the situation?
Controllers can revise instructions as traffic, runway, weather, or safety conditions change. A missed approach can be instructed by ATC.
Why does air traffic control manage timing as well as routes?
Flow management makes limited runway and airspace capacity usable. The alternative is every flight improvising into the same bottleneck.
